The problem started off and on yesterday. No luck in the last few hours today.

No problems here. Have you tried cleaning out cookies and all other local cached stuff for Chrome?

Using Firebox on Mac as well as IE8 on Win, yesterday I was getting DNS errors for MP. Dropping the "WWW" from the addy resolved it, but even this morning it would load with the "www" version but had jacked up fonts and formatting, whereas the non-www addy (i.e. "http: //mountainproject.com") loaded normally.

We've had no code changes (or DNS changes) recently, so I think this is a temporary problem with either your internet provider or possibly our DNS server.

Restarting the browser (and possibly computer) and clearing the browser cache are likely fixes.

If problems persist, please post!

Will, are you having problems with other sites? I've had problems with certain sites and my ISP's DNS, which generally is the default. You could try repointing to Google's servers, which tend to be faster anyway. Go into your network settings and set your DNS to 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4. Lmk if you need instructions.

p.s. The funky formatting is probably due the CSS file (which defines the style) not loading properly. It happens once in a while.

Over the past two days I have gotten a "site not available" type error. It is hit or miss, and I am using Chrome with a highly reliable connection (at work)

I've been having the same problem the last two days, using Chrome at home and IE at work. Its sporadic. I just keep trying and eventually I get through, cause, ya know, I need my fix!

LOL! I've experienced the same issue yesterday at work, but it wasn't limited to mp.com. My phone had no issues when connecting through the mobile (Verizon) network, so I suspect it was a limited routing issue.

I've been experiencing this also. It's happened sporadically over the last 3 days on both an iPad and a computer, probably 50-60% of the time I get redirected to the ISP search page. Most often it is with chrome but it happened with safari on the iPad as well.

I have cleared cache, restarted, all the usual stuff. All other sites work fine.

Additionally it happened with 2 different ISPs.

Same problem here.

Same problem from some of my computers (Century Link provider). Seems to be DNS failure. Really strange that it doesn't work from _some_ of my computers over the same connection. DNS TTL problem?

Anyways, been happening for about 5 days for me.

I also cannot use Chrome. For about (4?) days now. It will not find the Web page. I have CenturyLink and live in Boulder. Operating system is Android and am using a tablet. I uninstalled chrome and reinstalled with updates, still a no go.

Sounds like Century Link has a DNS issue.

In general, beyond just this issue, everyone should switch to Google's public DNS to avoid their ISP's (usually bullshit) DNS behavior.

Here are details on using Google's public DNS.

Here as well. Cox internet over chrome

This morning though I got the error as I tried to load the forum through the app.

I've been getting the same error the past few days on the app as well as on my computer with Firefox. No issues with other sites.

DNS settings. Just follow Fossana's advice. Make sure to delete your ISP's default DNS server address (the one that starts with 198.etc.)

I have moved our DNS server from GoDaddy (considered terrible) to Amazon (considered great). I don't think this is the problem (I think it's the ISP requesting the DNS records, not the actual DNS server)... but it's a good excuse to do this anyways.

Just FYI in case I botched the migration or if issues suddenly get better or worse.

I as well got the error all day yesterday or the day before and it took me to a century link search page for "mountainproject". works now though.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
