I'm in Europe and free to climb from July 24 - end of August. I'd be up for climbing anywhere it's not cold and wet. We were in Spain (Siurana, La Mussara) the end of June, which was great. I'm now working in Germany until July 23, and then want to climb for much of August.
I have a rope and draws, but flew over from the US without cams and nuts. I speak English, German, and Spanish.

I love sport climbing. I have rope, draws, a few cams, some nuts (not much trad experience). I lead 5.11. I'm stationed on the Naval Air Station Sigonella in Eastern Sicily.

Hi, I'm looking to do a 3/4 week Climbing trip starting at the end of july. No solid plans yet, but have been looking at Ceuse, Orpierre (easy to combine) and Frankenjura, so far.

What kind of grades do you climb? I climb about 6b/c.

Like to hook up with some people in these areas, or other areas perhaps. No solid plans yet, but I definetley want to do some Climbing!

hello
I would love to get out for a 1-2 day trip some time around aug 18- end of aug

I will be staying an hourish south of stuttgart Germany, i did a little looking there seems to be a lot not so far away. So I would love to get on some south euro rock. I would prefer not to bring a rope due to weight (and climbing is not the main focuse of this trip) i got trad gear, but its europe i thought everything is sport. so lets get out and climb!

anyway ill get on whatever guess 5.11s is where i start to feel hard on lead.

I lead about 6a to 6a+ on limestone . Have led up to 10d, rare 5.11 on granite (thin cracks - small fingers!), but am not as strong on steep overhanging stuff.

I hope to go on a trip in August - Italy would be nice. I have a (borrowed) car here, but am not that fond of driving long distances in the horrid traffic here, so don't know about driving to France. I'd be up for Finale Ligure, Lecco, Val di Mello, other areas in Italy; or southern Switzerland.

Where in Italy are you based? How long were you thinking of going Climbing for?

I'm in the planning phase of my trip ,looking at my options now, but want to leave home around the 25th and probably take in a few areas.

I'm dependent on public transport to get there, but of course happy to share fuel costs if you have a car.

Are the areas you've mentioned sports? I have no trad experience and no real crack experience, but could be interesting to try something new. 5.10 crack sounds plenty hard to me! :)

I'm able to do climbing on the weekends. There are some close places I can drive to after work in the late afternoons in the Catania and Syracuse provinces of Sicily.

I'm currently in Ulm, Germany -- in pouring rain. I'd drive to Italy to get somewhere dry. All areas I mentioned have mostly sport climbing . I think the alpine roues here tend to require crampons and ax, which I didn't bring to Europe with me.

I can get you hooked up with my group this sunday. We're meeting up in Enna, Sicily and going to the SW part of the island.

Hi, I'll be travelling to France for two weeks of August with a very flexible schedule and looking to climb. I lead around 5.10 and can follow 5.11 and clean. No experience with Trad. Let me know if you are interested in meeting up.

I live in La Grave and it's been pretty wet this year. Snow up high is holding out, if your into steep skiing and like the big lines there coming in all over the alps and there are many rare descents starting to show themselves. Stuff you just don't have the stability you need on in the winter.

Zermatt zone is quite white, and I was in Italy about a week and a half ago in the stelvio zone and ortler group. 4000 meters is money right now. I had one of the best descents of the year there.

As for climbing it's been frustrating to go big, just sticking to local crags with quick retreat options. Everything has been pretty damp lately.

Good luck.

Hi,

I'm in the Chamonix area where the weather is consistently wet. I'm going to head down to Calanques and the Cassis area in the next couple of days to escape to somewhere with sun, climbing and bonus beaches. I can lead around a french 4c or 5a on trad gear in yosemite according to the scale conversion on wikipedia. I could follow around 5c-6a cleanly about two months ago, but have had less time to climb recently. Is anyone going to be in that area or interested in heading there?

Since I'm living out of my pack I just have my personal gear (harness, some slings, atc, helmet, shoes) and a lot of flexibility though August 20th. Would also be game for other climbing adventures in Switzerland, France, or Italy between now and then.

Nice Sibylle,

I am an Expat and I still have a house in Summit County Silverthorn that I rent so I know vail all too well. I started coming over here about 11 years ago and found it hard to ever come back after discovering the skiing here. I am just an addict for skiing thats what brought me over here. I am an avid climber but skiing is number 1 and even though it's summer, we are experiencing some of the best conditions we have had for summer steep descents that I have seen in the last 5 years. If it keeps up you should go rent some gear and ski some summer pow on a glacier somewhere. :-) I'm eyeing a line that I have been waiting almost 10 years for to come in and it's finally as close as I have ever seen it. Maybe this week if I get a window, but it looks small and more snow is coming.

The attached photo was taken this morning in Switzerland at around 3400 meters or so. It's game on for the big lines that just don't come in during the winter. :-) I've been waiting all winter for this.

I hope you get some weather and can enjoy some sunny cragging somewhere. If all else fails in France and Italy, etc, maybe jump a plane over to Kalymnos and kick it on the beach with some amazing overhanging limestone. Good luck and stay dry. Looks like the next week is iffy again.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
