Probably not worth the walk from what I've heard unless you don't mind at least 1/3 rock, and that was a week of heat ago.

Did Skywalker Couloir yesterday. Snow was firm in spots, but we were able to kick steps as things got steeper. Got a late start, which definitely helped. Exited right. There was a small exposed rock section in the middle which was easily surmounted. I'd be surprised how much longer it'll remain in though.

Anyone been up to Brainaird in the last week? Curious if Toll is still skiable or what other lines in IPW may still be in.

Any beta on Airplane Gully on Navajo? Considering our snowpack, I thought this might be a good forum for this post.

Any summit locals know the condition of the 4th of July bowl? Thinking of riding this weekend or tomorrow. Or anything that's in with less sastrugi

Sorry Scott meant to email you. I'm guessing the bowl is the area further up valley from the mine? If so this photo of it last Saturday may help. Also I'm including a photo of skywalker which skied ok and has a large gap in the middle. If the bowl is the small field lookers left of skywalker that was still in and had tracks on it last Saturday meaning someone probably did it Friday.
4th of July bowl maybe?

Any steeper couloir/snow/alpine ice climbs still in? I'd love to swing my tools during the summer. Happy to partner up on any harebrained adventures as well. PM me!

Grizzly Couloir Sunday, 8/3/14:

How recent was that photo of Grizzly? Any idea if there is snow all the way up?

Ryan Marsters · · Golden, CO · Joined Jan 2011 · Points: 1,431

Took it Sunday from Twining. No idea about the bottom, but based on snow in the Lincoln drainage Sat, I'd guess down to the upper apron. Didn't see any other snow lines remotely in for the E-facing Elks and the rest of the central-west Sawatch.

Anyone know what the snow is like on the Y couloir on Ypsilon? Are the cornices still up?

Upper forks of Y Couloir as of 8/4. Snow looks ok with cornices still present but manageable?

As of 8/4.

Spectacle Lakes basin from the lower Blitzen, 8/4. What a place.
The approach..

Up close.
