All Mixed Up collapse?

On a trip up to Spearhead my buddy and I noticed a large clearing of trees at the bottom of where All Mixed Up forms. Most of the thick trees you have to walk through to get to the base of the climb had been ripped clean in half as if an avalanche had hit them. We thought it seemed like a very odd place for an avy unless it had come from the summit, which sounds unlikely. He thought what may have happened was All Mixed Up (i.e. Large slab of ice) became detached and fell down the wash ripping up the trees. Does anyone know any info about this? Has it happened before or was this a fluke avy? Thanks

I think the ones at the bottom of the slope / above the lake are from an avalanche.
It is a known slide area in, and around this climb. (The descent in particular.)

The trees on the trail area are from the mass blow down wind event a few years back.

But yeah, I had not noticed those trees I think you speak of in previous years…

That path below AMU is historic from large wind/storm slabs (not persistent slabs) and the most recent in 2003 after the 7' storm put in a few new and larger tracks in the Glacier Gorge as well as a slide that removed the stone/cement cabin in Chasm meadows.

The blow-down just upstream of Mills Lake was from Nov. 2012 when a micro-blast of wind knocked down almost a complete square mile of forest w/ root balls getting pulled out of the still warm ground0- crazy.

Not sure what descent option Cor is talking about w/AMU as the avi danger is mostly above or below the climb with minimal potential usually on the south side ridge where the common descent goes.
