Just curious if anyone knows the current shape of the Coleman-Demming route on Baker. Was thinking of taking a few newer folks up it, but as I've never been on baker before either I was hoping to get some current info. Thanks!

I came down the Coleman-Demming route last week. It is super filled in right now. I only remember 1 crevasse we had to step over. Everything else was either completely covered over or just a tiny crack. I am sure it has opened some with the warm weather but not much. There was a very solid easy to follow boot pack too. Only confusing part might be the approach day to high camp. There are a lot of tracks that are too far to the left and end up going to the North Ridge. Enjoy the trip; it is a fun mountain to be on!

The snowpack has settled and boot penetration is only a few inches on the CD bootpack, even at the warmest time. Crevasses are well covered or the tell-tale sags are plainly visible. Pumice ridge is melting out at its normal rate, and the Roman Wall is straightforward.

Come on up!
