4 days off for climbing (midweek)! From SF, minus a car...

Hey!

So, I've lucked on to being off work 7/21-7/24, and I want to get out the city and get climbing! I'm a transplant from Scotland, UK, where I have lots of climbing experience. I only lead trad up to about 5.7, but happy to follow harder; I can just be a bit of a pussy on gear and still getting used to American climbing (CRACKS in Scotland; hell no!).

However, being from out of town I am without a car, climbing gear or partners! So I'm looking for inspiration for public transport accessible places where it'll be easy to meet climbing partners. I'm just back from a trip to the valley which was AWESOME, but as I have a couple more planned throughout the Summer I'm hoping to get somewhere different (but I'm sure I could, somehow, cope with another few days there ;)). I'd like to get up to Tuolumne, and I know there are transport options to there once I'm in the valley, but I'm not sure what the campsite is like for meeting partners? If I follow that option would I be better to base myself in camp 4 anyway? Or Tahoe would be cool but I'm not sure if it's do-able! Open to any and all other suggestions, or if anyone wants to coordinate a trip from SF I'm more than game to contribute for gas and provide alcohol (the climbing trip essential, obviously!)

Thanks!
Danielle

P.S. Renting a car is an option, but a kinda expensive one on my own so I'm hoping to avoid it!

Tuolumn Meadows campsite has some first-come, first-serve spots.

PS: I'm looking for valley partner, but meadows is OK.

PPS: have rope, rack and car.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
