Website to help with climbing/hangboard training

Hey Everyone,
I just recently got into hangboard training and found it a little bit difficult (other than the physical part of course) for a couple reasons:

-Not a ton of specific workouts/direction
-I could never remember what order to do the hangs (specific to metolious workouts).

To solve this I made a little website for myself that counts down how much time for each rep and tells you what rep to do next (ie, hang on pockets for 20 seconds).

I showed it to another climbing buddy and he thought it was kind of cool. So I added a bit more functionality and posted it online. Its up at www.sendtrain.xyz

I've loaded in some workouts (including these Metolius ones ) that you can start up with right away. But you can also add your own workouts in (they'll be public to everyone).

Please use it! I'd love to hear your feedback (there is a question mark in the bottom right where you can send me feedback or make feature suggestions).

Just a fun project for now (I'm also learning to code) so hopefully you guys find it useful.

Oh! And it will work on your mobile device... just do it through your browser, no app yet.

Again the site is at www.sendtrain.xyz

Nice! I like it. Simple and effective. Let me know when the app comes out.

Some sort of chime/ audio to let u know when the timer runs out would be great. Looks good so far. Good idea.

+1 for a chime

Cool! I will definitely give this a go.

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

I got a chime working when you use it on a computer, not on the mobile devices though.

As I mentioned, just learning to code so I haven't figure out how to do it yet from a phone or tablet. I'll add it to my list though!

If you get any more ideas, feel free to add them (the orange question mark in the bottom right of the screen lets you add ideas or submit questions).

Put in a chime for mounting and dismounting. I've used apps before for hang board training. I hate watching the timer to know when I have to mount and dismount. Be sure to make different tones for each (customizable even better) if you can make it a different volume also so I can play pandora in the backround that would be awesome. Ok I'm ranting and going to go. Good luck with your website. Cheers.

First of all I want to thank everyone who gave me feedback!

The biggest thing people want is a chime to play to mark the end of a rep. This works when you use the site on your computer, but not on any mobile devices.

I did some research on playing sounds via a mobile browser, and basically its not possible in the way I need it to be.

So.... I need some help! I'll need to build iOS and Android apps so you can use it on mobile, the only problem is that I don't know either of those.

I posted a new page where you can help me out in one of two ways (pretty please) Help Me Out Please!

1. If you know Android and/or iOS and want to help out, just let me know and we can work on the project together.

2. Contribute some funds... I have a full time job, plus a startup, and I'd like to actually use my own training app. I think it will take me at least 20+ hours for each operating system to learn and create a new app... I'm going to do it anyways (with or without any contributions), but if you find the website useful and you have a few extra dollars hanging out of your chalk bag, please contribute some money so I can really make it great! (25% of contributions will go to the Access Fund).

Again, go to Help Me Out Please! for details

Awesome idea, this has a lot of potential!

One feature that would be cool would be having an option that would make the whole page background change color for hang/rest. I've been using Wrkout Pro on my phone and the background is green for hang, red for rest. I don't use the sounds on it since the gym can be noisy, I just see the color change out of my peripheral vision, so I just have to look in the general direction but not focus on the actual time.

Also, some Javascript errors I found when clicking through, in Firefox v30 and Chrome v34:

Clicking Pause:
Error: ReferenceError: pausetimer is not defined
Source File: sendtrain.xyz/#/workout/daf…

Clicking Reset:
Error: ReferenceError: resettimer is not defined
Source File: sendtrain.xyz/#/workout/daf…

And a CSS error:
Error: downloadable font: download failed (font-family: "Glyphicons Halflings" style:normal weight:normal stretch:normal src index:1): status=2147746065
source: sendtrain.xyz/fonts/glyphic…
Source File: sendtrain.xyz/css/bootstrap…
Source Code:
@font-face { font-family: "Glyphicons Halflings"; src: url("../fonts/glyphicons-halflings-regular.eot?#iefix") format("embedded-opentype"), url("../fonts/glyphicons-halflings-regular.woff") format("woff"), url("../fonts/glyphicons-halflings-regular.ttf") format("truetype"), url("../fonts/glyphicons-halflings-regular.svg#glyphicons_halflingsregular") format("svg"); }

I might be able to help with an native iPhone application. Shouldn't be too hard depending on how your back end is architected. Shoot me a PM if you're interested.

Hey TJ...

I really like the idea of changing the background color! Thats awesome. I'll see if I can do that.

Yes, those are known errors at this point. I had built the original in just javascript then I moved to angular and havnt moved all of the scripts over.

Let me know if you find others.. and just so I can keep track easier, would you mind entering them with the orange question mark in the bottom right of the screen... even lets you take a screenshot and send it in. That way all my bugs/suggestions are in one spot.

Thanks again! Love the colors idea, i'll see if I can get that done this weekend.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
