The crux is the approach. Travel across two glaciers and scrambling
2nd and 3rd class rock to reach the summit. 1 or 2 days.
Enter the park from the East at White river and hwy 410.
From the trailhead to Summerland, (signed) at Frying Pan creek, hike 4 miles +/- to elev. 6000'.
Leave the Wonderland trail here and hike in a westerly direction to Meany Crest (7573'). Pass on the left or right. Good campsites here.
Cross the Frying Pan glacier in a southwesterly direction toward Whitman Crest (9323'). Pass on the left or the right.
Drop down onto the Whitman glacier and climb to the high point of the glacier toward the summit.
Once at the top of the glacier there is 400-800' of class 2 and 3 rock scrambling to the summit.
