I only have sport gear, so NC is not my state, but my research has shown on one site that some routes at the South Face at Looking Glass are top rope-able. All my other research shows only trad and multi-pitch. Anybody have some knowledge?
You can scramble up to the Short Mans Sorrow ledge and gear a TR, but you need some pro. A sport rack won't cut it. Pick up a copy of the Cedar Rock guidebook for some easy sport areas on and around Cedar Rock, like Stone Depot, which is not too far from Looking Glass. mountainproject.com/v/cedar…
You can free solo up easy 5th class (maybe 5.3 or 5.4) up to Sentry Box Ledge. The crux is topping out on the ledge so keep that in mind. There is a rap anchor there, you can set up a top rope that you can use to climb some easy slaby stuff. But be mindful of people that need that station to rap down after their climbs.
