I've been climbing for 2 years and have reached a typical intermediate plateau. I'm wondering what type of climbing pants would help me send 5.12. Any thoughts on brand, color, material, bagginess, etc., would be appreciated.

I always thought I could just buy some pants from a thrift store for $5 or $10, but a google search for "climbing pants" reveals that I must spend $55 to $199 to get that true pair of climbing pants from brands like La Sportiva that seems necessary to achieve these harder grades and prove to myself that I am a worthwhile person. Can anyone climb harder than 5.10 without climbing pants with features such as a gusseted crotch, ultra-durable stretch cordura fabric, integrated toothbrush pocket, articulated knees, and an integrated stash pocket for small essentials? All those are found on the La Sportiva Solution Pant for $128.

Do the pants with an "integrated stash pocket for small essentials" sell better in Colorado where marijuana was recently legalized?

So, I've just started with this whole climbing rock stuff. Been adding to my gear closet for a few months... brand new to this stuff.

Now you're telling me I need a pair of special climbing pants! Hell, I don't even know what kind of climbing I'm going to like. Don't even know if I'm good at it or not.

With these will I be able to go straight from never climbed rock using any type of pro to being able to climb 5.19z?

Should I just get four pair right off the bat? One pair for bouldering, one for sport, one for trad, one for aid? Damn, forgot about the approach - have to look good to get there, right?

If I could find these as capri in tie-dye... freaking awesome!

Quick search and found what I was looking for, these:

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
