Hi there, While climbing I stepped onto what I thought was a shelf full of pine needles but what turned out to be a rancid pothole of water. My right climbing shoe smells like a CAFO, or like I managed to climb through a trough of pig feces. I rinsed it with cold water and laundry detergent and have left it in the sun for the last few days but it still stinks. I've only used these shoes for about 15 days of climbing, so they still have a lot of life left in them. I'm worried if I get too aggressive with scrubbing them that I may break down the leather or the glue on the rand. Any suggestions on how to get the stink out of my shoe while not doing any damage to the integrity of it? Thanks!

Baking soda and water can work wonders. Make a paste, scrub gently with a toothbrush, rinse with a sponge or running water. Try not to saturate leather, but don't worry as much about any sort of fabric.
