Hi, we are two Norwegians going to Boulder to climb the 8-24th of july. We are looking for partner(s) who are interested in trad/bouldering/alpine in the boulder/RMNP area in this period. We are new to the area, and super-keen to do nice trad/bouldering/alpine!

I would really like to do Kiener's, but I'm not sure I'm experienced enough to lead it (and am a bit unsure wether the whife will team up with me on that one), so if anyone would like to do that one, that would be great!

I comfortably lead 5.7 trad, and do 7a/b (french scale, V6?) bouldering. My whife follows 5.7 and has just started leading.

Hi Kristian,

I spend a lot of days climbing on Longs peak and I am always up for a trip. I love that mountain. I work on weekdays, and am traveling next weekend (Mt. Rainier!) but I might be able to take you up Kiener's on 19 or 20 July. I am not a guide but I have many ascents on Longs, including the Diamond. Will you have any equipment with you? An ice axe and crampons will be necessary, although I have a couple of spares I could lend.

Cheers
Rudy

Hi Rudy, that would be super! 19th or 20th sounds good, both days. We are bringing the equipment we need. We can bring ropes etc. What is a good rack for this trip?

Of course, the amount of gear depends on your comfort level. One full set of nuts and a single set of cams from small C3 or TCU up to a #2 Camalot or equivalent would surely be enough for the moderate routes. You could always bring a couple of extra cams if you would feel more comfortable with them.

A mountaineering axe, approach shoes, and strap-on universal crampons may be the ideal configuration for the current conditions. Waterproof shoes are a big plus, but mountaineering boots are way overkill.

Feel free to use my personal email; I don't check Mountain Project regularly: j.awerbuch@gmail.com

Kristian,

Are you by chance from Starheim, Norway? That is where my family is from - still have cousins there.

Cheers,

Hi Mike! As far as I know there is only one place called Starheim in Norway, so yes :-) My father comes from Starheim and I have spent all holidays there. I am still often there.

Do you know the name of the farm or do you have the name of any of the cousins? Then I can figure out which family you are from.

Kristian,

Names are Ola & Anne Marie Kviebakk and Roger Sandvic. They now live in Alesund and Sylta.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
