Figured I'd ask here since the PNW produces some epic trad guys. And when it comes to Trad gear I'm kinda lost. I've been mostly sport and ice climbing and recently went out Trad climbing again and really enjoyed it. I'm not much on gear borrowing so now I need to start a rack.
I guess my questions are mostly centered on what type of cams should I pick up since I plan on mostly climbing in and around WA and OR.
From what I understand a basic rack might look like
Camalot or Eqv .4 .5 .75 1 1.5 2 2.5 3
Nuts from 3-12
C3 or Eqv 00 0 1
Appreciate any help or insight you can throw my way. Thanks
If you plan on climbing the basalt columns in the area I would highly recommend getting the DMM offsets for your stoppers, wish i would have bought them sooner. Other than that maybe doubles in the .5 to 2 range. I personally prefer the mastercams for the small gear over c3's or better yet the new x4's for a few dollars more.

I would double up on some of the medium sizes before I bought a 00 cam. Also nuts smaller than a 5 are pretty marginal as well. Nothing wrong with Metolius cams instead of C4s and they can be had use a little cheaper. I don't climb in the PNW but a C4 size 4 cam finds use as much as the size 3 for me
