Anybody have experience with this rope? Comments?

Maybe they've gotten better, but the load of Roca ropes we bought once about 12 years ago turned out to be soft and have major sheath issues on about half of them.

Check the shipping. Fixe tends to be a bit on the pricey side and no free shipping on sale items.

$250 plus shipping for a 70m from a manufacturer most have never even heard of? That's pretty far from a good deal IMO. You can do better, way better.

$110 for a 9.9 70m seems like an OK deal though.

I suppose the deal must have disappeared. It was 60+% off.

But I did check shipping, not good.

It looks like the deal may have changed a bit:

$185.00 for an 80 meter rope seems like a pretty good deal, even with the ~$20.00 shipping to my location. This is exactly the type of rope I'm looking for (9.4mm x 80meter, non-dry).

I'm curious to know what experience others have had with Roca Ropes, if not for this deal, then for future reference. Anyone else have some info?

Any more info on these yet?

I have a Roca rope. It's a IO, 9.4, 70m and I really like it. Before I purchased it I asked a long time climber friend (40yrs climbing) of mine about them. He said they were a good rope but because they were a Spanish manufacturer they were much better known in Europe than in the US.

I've been climbing on it for about a year now 3-5 times a week and it's my main lead rope. So far it's held up well, has a good hand, takes a knot well, and is light for a 70m. It's not a dry rope but for the price you can't beat them. I prefer a dry rope but for strictly rock climbing it's optional.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
