Anyone been up there recently? I'm planning on going July 4th weekend to do Mt. Russell, and I'm hoping things are snow free. Any beta would be greatly appreciated!

I haven't been up there lately, but you'll be fine. Snow will not interfere with your trip or require any crampons, etc. I bless thee. :)

Climbed Russell in early May via east ridge. Barely any snow then so you should be just fine. Might be a tiny bit in the couloir of mountaineers route up Whitney.

Thanks! I was definitely worried about the east ridge descent since I read something about there still being snow on the route.

Russel approach and descents are snow free. Mountaineers route is also snow free.
It's approach shoe season.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
