Hi. I´m from Spain and am flying to Californiia in 3 days with my girlfriend and needed some suggestions about sport climbing places.
Since we are travelling light, we only want to climb easy routes, sport climbing, 1 pitch.

Any recommendations we will apreciate.
Tx ;)

NOTE: I have some suggestions from other sites like Bishop, Yosemite, RedRocks, YoshuaTree, but I don´t know if any are recommended during summer days :S

Yoshua Tree will be scorchingly hot during the summer. Some of the locals will tell you how they climb in the early morning, but it will be hot in the summer. And that's primarily a trad-climbing area, although there are some bolted climbs.

Owens River Gorge is a sport climbing mecca, and if you hit some of the cooler days in the summer, that would be great.

Red Rock is not in California, but is within half a day's drive and will also be hot in the summer.

Desert climbing is not optimal during the summer. Climbs at altitude are.

Owens River Gorge early in the AM or late in the day, also Alabama Hills. Donner Pass in Tahoe though there's lots of trad there too.

Hi, we are a big state.... 12hr drive north to south.

Where are you going to be? What city?

If LA, I recomend you go to Malibu Creek State Park.... good sport climbing, but limited, good for a few days.

And the ECHO cliffs, close by....

Bishop is really fine, it gets hot and is hot right now, but I would go there right now. I have spent 2 week in Aug at the Owens Gorge and it was fine.
Many more spots in the Bishop, Mammoth vicinity.

You will love Clark Canyon, Aera 13 and Joes Garage....

Bishop has tons of free camping spots and is a cool place to meet other climbers.

Have Fun, welcome.

Head to Maple. It's a ways from California but it's cool and it's all sport.

Tx a lot to you all, very fast response ^^
I have a cousin living in SF so we will visite him first then head south to LA maybe (if you recommend) then to LasVegas.

This is more or less the route we are going to take doing some stops on the way to climb wherever you are recommending.

This is what you have recommended so far and that is close to our first idea of a sport climbing trip. What do you think?

If you take that route, you will be going over Highway 120, which passes through Tuolumne Meadows. That is part of Yosemite National Park. The summer is a perfect time to climb in Tuolumne Meadows. Also, if you go to the Alabama Hills, like your map shows, it will be hot there. It is in the desert and will probably be too warm to climb, unless it's at dawn. Have fun.

The drive on Highway 395 is beautiful.

From the trip itinerary that you posted you will be going within ten minutes of Table Mountain. The grotto ( mountainproject.com/v/the-g…) there is really nice in the summer and it meet your criteria of single pitch sport. There is a pretty good variety of routes there. In my opinion it is definitely worth a day and there is camping nearby as well.

Don't go to the Alabama Hills...

I like it, when I'm in Lone Pine. But I wouldn't make a trip to climb there this time of year; especially if you'll be through Bishop.

Easy/Moderate, single-pitch, sport climbing?

I'd chase the shade at the Owens River Gorge, or head to Area 13

Single pitch, sport climbing,7b+ max because we dun wanna get stuck in one route for long time ^^

Ok...that's mid-range 5.12 max. Scratch what I said about Area 13 (still recommending the ORG).

You'd probably like Donner: mountainproject.com/v/donne…

+1 for table mountain. Lots of good sport and easy camping. Could be hot though.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
