Adirondack Bouldering- Information Request

Mountain Project Community:

As some of you may know, I am actively working on a complete bouldering guidebook for all areas within the "blue line" of the Adirondack State Park. I am seeking any local knowledge on the historical bouldering that has taken place in the past at Chapel Pond and Poke-O-Moonshine. These are two areas that I know have seen bouldering activity for decades and I would like to get some inside knowledge in regards to names of problems, grades, development efforts, etc.

I am also seeking any additional information that you may have on "newer" bouldering areas as well...

No new activity out there that I am not aware of? Anybody?

On the top of ADK Bouldering, what would you say is the closest to people traveling from VT (or Burlington more specifically)? If I remember right McKenzie pond is like 2-2.5 hour drive (closer to 2.5), would love to have something right over the lake to get to in under 2 hours!

The boulders by Poke-O-Moonshine would probably be about an hour away (but i am trying to dig into the private land/public land issue going on there in relation to the massive boulder fields, McKenzie Pond and the Saranac Lake Region boulders would be in the 2-2.5 hour range. There might be more up in the north country but that is where my familiarity starts to lack and I could use some local insight....

I didn't notice on the list before but my friends and I also discovered the Green Lake boulders years ago. If you would like any history or what we named/graded routes, please contact me at the same email address as above.

What about Gnarnia?

ADK hiker- i've emailed you regarding some of the Adirondack bouldering that you've mentioned...

Freezeus- Gnarnia (Brant Lake) and Hogwart's (Pottersville) are unfortunately on private property and not state land. I have been trying to work with the owners and Access Fund but to no avail currently...

Thanks for the comments guys, I recently made a career transition from the design office to become a career fire fighter and had to put the guidebook on hold for the past 3 months...I am now geared back up and am trying to publish by the end of the year.

I know the Poko boulders pretty well. Private message me if you are looking for more info...
