Description

Putterman's Dome (submitted as Treeline Dome) is a beautiful wall with a handful of established routes. Some of these routes were in place when I first went to this wall in 2007, and I've added 2 more bolted routes since.... An east-facing knobby, domey face offers almost 200' of featured rock, and the northeast face is graced by a massive roof all along its length. This has quality, alpine granite that needed some cleaning here and there. The biggest problem is trundling any baseball-size rocks or bigger is very dangerous, because the grassy slope below keeps going until the rocks roll down on top of CO Highway 82! Be careful!

Getting There

Driving up from the Lake County side, you'll pass the 1st large switchback (Lackawanna Gulch) and continue up the long section of roadcut. Near the end of the road-cut, there are a few exposed parking spots perched above the steep, 1500' slope below. When you see the Treeline Dome above, park just uphill in one of the pullouts. Scramble and claw your way up to the crag. It is a 15 minute approach.
