Anyone know where I can buy or rent one on this trip? I'm an hour and a half from my home in the twin cities and forgot my crash pads...

There's a climbing shop in Baraboo you could call, otherwise your next best bet is Madison.

Thanks, we're too far past eau Claire already. Were probably going to climb in devils lake today and maybe stop in baraboo for a crash pad.

I called and they do have pads. We ended up top roping on the minimal gear we happened to bring (in case we wanted to rehearse a tall boulder) at Devil's Lake on Friday while we waited for people to show up Friday night. Then we just bouldered with friends and mooched off their pads. I wished I had brought mine to contribute, but in the end it worked out fine because this wasn't like the normal mix I'm accustomed to where nobody has gear--most people did have pads.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
