Trad pack?
|
So I'm in the market for a new pack in the 50 liter range to be used to haul my trad gear. |
|
I recently got a BD 50 Caliber. It holds the listed gear easily with some room to spare. It carries pretty well (for me) and although I haven't been using it long, it seems like it will be very durable. |
|
I picked up a cilo gear 60 which has become my go to pack. At the size its perfect for cragging or can be big enough for overnight. Couple people I know have some in the 45 range that they love too. I'm not a fan of the BD packs, had some bad luck with them. |
|
What do you think about a Miura in Short? I'm starting to realize mine is way to small for me, really wish I had gotten the Regular or Tall right about now. The new ones don't seem too bad though |
|
I love my Gregory pack! Granted I bought it because it was the best women's specific bag, but every guy I know who owns one, loves it! Plus their customer service is awesome :) |
|
In my opinion, companies like BD and Arcteryx only have a line of packs because it's a convenient purchase from a customer who already has some of their great gear. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure they make good packs but I think you'll find they are far from perfect. Check out Mystery Ranch. They make packs. I like the Big Sky. mysteryranch.com/mountain-a… |

I just scored a Mammut Neon 45. It might quickly become my favorite gear ever. If you pack it ful with gear - the rope goes perfectly on top, totally stable and secure - with straps meant just for this purpose. Bomber material -almost like a haul bag. Highly recommended. |

I could not dissagree about the ARC' packs at least my Muirra 50 is incredible. the neon gear has no waist-belt, that is a deal breaker for me a thin webbing waistband is not sufficient for carrying a rack and all the rest. the Cilo Gear Haully is my go to after my Muirra 50 dies... if it every will. it got smashed with a 20lb block from 100ft up in Zion. |

I've owned several packs, (gregory alpinisto, arc'teryx, BD, etc.) and finally the Osprey Variant 52. This pack is nothing short of perfection. It is durable, cavernous, and able to function as both a guide style alpine pack as well as a weekend load hauler. Well thought out design and features make this my go to pack. Too bad I went through all those other packs before finding this bad boy! Could have saved alot of dough. I strongly urge you to consider this before making your final purchase. Good luck in your search! |

Don't you split the rack and rope with your partner, or do you carry it all? |

Cold cold world makes sick packs! Built so well you'd probably be able to pass it down to next generation . |
|
It seems that every pack I ever find is outfitted for ice climbing with a bunch of crap I'd never use. Yet there really is no good spot to put my lunch, phone, and water bottle. |

MH Direttissima 46 |

MarktheCPA wrote:MH Direttissima 46 sierratradingpost.com/mount… This code GMC7098C is working for me right now to bring it down to $136 + shipping but you might want to wait for a 30-35% + .99 shipping coupon. The hip belt comes off and there's a lightweight webbing belt to replace it. The brain also comes off if you want to slim it down. It's a good sturdy pack.. Might be overkill if you're just walking from your car to the crag though.Try either of these codes, if someone is looking for STP deals: DWW4458B CVS7152P |

+1 for CCW packs. I don't think you could destroy one if you tried. Has all the features you want, but nothing you don't need. An added bonus: Randy uses standard fastex buckles, so if you do happen to break one (say in a car door) it's easy to replace. |

arc'teryx alpha fl 45. best pack I've ever had (and i have many) so not all arc packs are bad. :P |

check out pusher they make a pack that unfolds into a tarp I got one and it's pretty sweet. |

I have the 30l Hauly, but am going to get a 45L once this one blows out. I've been abusing it for 4 years and the only thing wrong with it is a blown out zipper in the inside pouch. It is an awesome pack, and I've been able to carry a 60m 9.4, single rack, harness, shoes, lunch, a 1L nalgene and small puffy in it regularly. But that 45L looks a lot easier to just throw stuff in and go. |
