Where to buy DMM Thor?
|
In search of DMM Thor, either the quickdraw or singles. Needed ASAP for a project. Happy to buy new or used. |

In a few months, or sooner, you will be able to buy them from Mountain Equipment Co-op. |

Thanks for the tips. I need it next week, unfortunately... |

Depending on when next week you need it, these guys have shipped gear to me in Australia in four working days. You won't find DMM stuff cheaper. |

Thx.Curious what kind of project needs this specific carabiner. High strength and relatively light weight for sure (28kn closed gate, 11kn open, 36g), but I'm having a hard time thinking of a climbing application for which you really need both. Other than the strength, it seems pretty unremarkable to me. Why do you need something so strong and light? Could you sub for a steel biner if you need the strength, or just any other modern biner if you need it to be light? |

I got mine from 123Mountain |

yeah--why? Just curious. |

Close! I need to get images taken for a magazine review, manufacturer only has silver ones in stock within deadline timing, hence the pressing need for a Gunmetal one. |

Ah, makes sense. Good luck! |

Is your review going to mention that the only reason you would ever need a Thor is if a mag asked you to review it? Cuz that's about all I need to know. |

I bought a bunch of Thor quickdraws for sport climbing. Typical DMM quality. Smooth, excellent finish, good handling. I don't need the world's lightest biners when I'm sport climbing, so why not have the extra strength? (Can't hurt.) |

I've had a few draws randomly 'open' themselves yet stay clipped in, so the extra strength could come in handy... |

(Can't hurt.)In addition, despite their beefiness, it's not as if they're the heaviest thing around. At 36g, they're as light or lighter than, for instance, the following BD biners (just using BD because that's what I'm most familiar with): Livewire Hoodwire, Dynotron, Nitron, Hotwire, Neutrino, and Positron. Not the lightest thing on the market, certainly. But a far cry from the heaviest. |
