Working for the NPS on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon for the summer. New to the area from Mt Shasta, California and looking for partners... open to just about anything and stoked! Bouldering, trad, sport, alpine, etc.
We might be able to help each other out. I live an hour south of the South Rim. I have plenty of partners for the rock climbing areas near Flagstaff, but I get pretty desperate for partners to go to SW Colorado for alpine stuff. If you and I joined forces for something like that, I think that we'd meet and leave a vehicle in Tuba City. That is about 3 hours for you (an hour an a half for me). The mountains in southwest CO take 2.5 to 4 more hours of driving from Tuba, depending on which peak that you are doing. At some point, I assume that you will be checking out the south side of the Grand Canyon, and maybe Flagstaff. I live in "the boonies" between the two. There is "Free camping for climbers and hikers" in our yard, lol. It is a convenient base camp if you are doing the hikes north of Flagstaff (Kendrick Peak, Abineau, or Bearjaw Canyons). We are 7 miles from pavement, and don't have plumbing, so it you drive a Prius (or want to shower indoors instead of under a tree) don't consider coming here. It is possible that we could link up, or help each other out, somehow on various versions of "hiking across the Grand Canyon", as well. I've been across the Canyon 42 times (21 double crossings) but I've never had the benefit of a friend (or vehicle) on the North Rim. I'm intrigued by the chance to do a fast single crossing, or a (very slow) triple crossing. Both of those would require some sort of car shuttle, or switching of car keys with another person etc.
