This is the heaviest thing I think I've dealt with in my relatively short mountaineering career: I was on that route less than a week ago. Holy shit. I'm really shaken up by this. |

There was no activity detected. Searchers then spotted debris and no signs of life at the site. It is believed that the bodies of all six climbers are there, and it appears they fell thousands of feet. The search was called off for the day, and Wold said there is no way searchers can access the area at this time." komonews.com/news/local/Sea… I guess that explains it. Sad day. |

Mark, the liberty wall is constantly calving and avalanching and to make an effort to dig and recover the climbers would be highly dangerous for the rescuers. Thoughts with their families. |

Just for clarity, from what I have read the climbers fell to the Carbon Glacier side below the Willis Wall not Liberty Wall. It sounds as though they were hit by an avalanche whilst camped somewhere above the Black Pyramid that swept them down what is known as Thermogensis. |

Any news or updates? |

Still no ground search due to serious rockfall and avalanche danger in the area of concern. The park officials have given up hope for rescue and have moved to a recovery operation. They have found their gear strewn out across a few thousand feet and have confirmed 6 beacon signals under a large pile of ice/snow/rock. |
