DIY crack gloves

I've made some DIY crack gloves that I really like. I've got a big lump on the back of my left hand from a mtb accident/fracture that makes me bleed a lot from jamming hand cracks and I don't like tape. I've climbed in the Metolius 3/4 finger gloves a good bit, but they are a little bulky and they wear out quickly (they are also expensive and take a while to break in.)
This is my solution for all of the DIYers out there with similar dislike for tape:

Thin leather strap ~2" wide and ~34" long with two 7/8" holes (carefully placed.) Materials cost: <$6 (bought a remnant at the Tandy Leather store). Comfortable and functional. Soaks up sweat and allows you to still feel the texture of the crack.

prototype made of rubber: awful. Once you start sweating they slide around and squeak like a wetsuit. Can't feel a thing so you over-torque your jams. Good concept with bad materials.

Those look pretty sweet! Do you know what thickness the leather is? I'm going to try these out. Have you used them enough to figure out if the leather stretching becomes a problem?

They really are comfortable and sensitive for greater pleasure.
Micrometer says the leather is 0.054" thick, but abrasion can quickly change that. The stuff I chose is suede, but there is quite a variety of thickness/stiffness to choose from. $6 bought enough material to make half a dozen sets of these, so it's a cheap set of gloves.
To punch the holes I sharpened the interior edge of a piece of copper pipe and used a deadblow hammer against a block of wood. Measure the distance between holes carefully for a tight fit.

Interesting design, thanks for sharing. Personally I don't like anything across the palm. I'd go with a single layer across the back of the hand with index, pinky finger and thumb loops and a wrist strap closure just like i tape. I have a home crack wall and use a lot of tape training and it would be good to be able to just put on gloves rather than the whole tape routine. Might have to sew some prototypes. I'd expect some problems from the leather stretching, interesting potential though.

Whatever works, that's what counts.

One of the nice things about Gregger's design is that you can wrap a little tighter to compensate for the stretch.

If you could refine this idea this you could probably market it Greg. Then you could sell out to Black Diamond, retire and build guitars.
