Sunny and hot with a nice breeze all day today!!! Its blue bird and 20 degrees warmer than the current conditions post. lol. This should get rid of most of the little snow that’s left on the approach for this weekend:) The current weather forecast has changed to spectacular and is getting better every time we check so lets see what happens. Its been a great spring so far. We will have a 24' enclosed trailer bringing up fire wood to the pass and doubling for a cooking hangout during Friday night, Saturday and Sunday. Then Sunday night will be the BIG BONDFIRE and spaghetti feed on Copper St, same place as the Ice Festival fire. Everything else is on schedule so we cant wait to see good folks having a good time at Valdez’s first Rock Climbing Festival.

Great weather for the weekend!!!!!!!!! Dry and partly sunny is the forecast for the Memorial Day Weekend. The party is a go and we are loading up the gear tonight. I'm looking forward to see what kind of a turnout we get on Thompson Pass. To find us look for the cars at Worthington State Park then follow the foot prints to the crag. You can also look up info on Valdez in the Alaska Climbing Guide(book)or here on Mountain Project.

Planning on heading up in a couple weeks to climb for a few days. Anyone know of any good places to camp that would be free and not a super long hike in?

There is camping at or near all the walls located in Valdez.

Tsaina Wall has a nice pullout on the south side of the bridge. Hippie loop is a mile or so down the road towards Valdez. Park on the dirt road across form the Tsaina Lodge to avoid the sound of the road.

The Republic of Boulder & Sunny Side is located on Thompson Pass where you can camp for free in many locations. There are restrooms located at the trail head.

Blueberry Block and Raspberry Rock are located above the Blueberry Lake State Park Campground. I think is 5 or 10 bucks a night for a official site.

Keystone Tunnel Wall is located right off the highway so you can camp for free anywhere you feel like pitching a tent.

Valdez Gl. Campground Wall relay tells the whole story. This crag and Airport Heights are both a very short walk form the campground. 10$ or 15$ ? I have never camped there but the sights are nice. You can also camp for free out on the river bed, off the Valdez Gl. Trail, or down by the ocean if you don’t mind a couple miles of driving.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
