Hello. Anybody have any recommendations for a wall route that would be doable right now and not blocked by bird closures, high water or insanely hot temps?

Thank you very much.

That's what I figured. C3 is about where I max out.

It looks like temps are dropping a little bit this weekend.

Rob, out of curiosity, do you have any suggestions for routes in the shade? Looking at stuff in the III-IV 5.10+ range. Kung-fu Theater looks like the ticket for some shorter stuff, but wondering if there is anything longer and north facing that would be open right now.

Thanks.

shunes buttress is shady from mid day on...one of the best routes in the park. It is going to be in the low 90's this weeks which is pretty comfy for shady climbing.

Quite a bit really, my wife and I were climbing in the shade yesterday and the temps were pretty stellar, it never gets unbearable until your night time lows don 't go below the 70's and 80's. It is still in the 60's in town and 50's against the walls with a great week ahead. I did Mojo Risin last week with two shirts on for the entire route.

Beta on my favorite multi-pitch shade climbs can be found at the index link below, west to east(all free I don't aid)...if open depending on nesting activity...check that out on the National Park's website or in person.

Zion Free Routes in order from west to east....

I have climbed all these shady routes personally and recommend them...single pitch is something you can study on your own obviously.

Smashmouth, ACL Arete and/or Take Back the Rainbow starting early...

Kung Fu Fighter, Cave Dweller, Blood Sport and/or Mortal Combat all day

Shark Tooth Freighter and/or Holly Roller starting early...

Headache early...

InI, UnU, Lap Dance and/or POW Right in the Rat starting early.....Remnants of a Party, Gypsy's Curse and/or Feast of Snakes all day

Made to Be Broken and/or Riddlers's Delight late start....

Rain, Great Beyond and/or Cynthia's Handjob all day....

Voodoo Rooves starting early...

Enjoy this coming week for sure...

Thanks Dow! Glad you got out on Mojo Risin'. I'll be in the park Friday-Tuesday if you are out there.
