New Adirondack guide?
I tried to buy the guide book (rock) last week at rock and snow and was told that they stopped selling it as a new one was about to come out. Anyone know when this will happen? The website just says 2014. Or does anyone have an old one they want to sell me? |
According to the authors' website (see adirondackrock.com/purchase…), "As of November 13, 2013, Adirondack Rock is out of print. We're busy preparing the second edition, due for release in 2014." |
Thanks! Ya, I saw that on their site but did not think to try to look up the author. I sent him a message and will update if he gets back to me and gives me the ok to post a date. |
I have a copy, hardly used, I wouldn't mind selling. I'm in WY no and haven't touched it in years. any interest? |
Ya! If I can find a way to get it from you without paying a lot of shipping (I'm in Canada). I'll hang out for a day or 2 just in case the new book is getting released next week, but otherwise that would be great. |
As per a May 12 post on the Adirondack Rock facebook page, the second edition has been sent to the printer. |
Cool. Thanks for letting me know! |
I bet MEC or La Cordee still have some copies of the 'old' Guidebook. I'd check with them. |

They then proceeded to post some cool pics from the actual place they're getting them printed. I never knew how complicated/multi-staged the process was. |

I have two copies of the guide. You're welcome to one. Gratis. |
The Mountaineer in Keene Valley should have copies. |

Does anyone know if there is any bouldering in the old ADK guide or if the new one will have any? I've heard a lot of new bouldering is going up in the ADK but I have no idea where. |

There is some bouldering in the "old" Adirondack Rock guidebook, not sure if those areas are still going to be included in the new edition or not. I have been passed the batton from the authors Jim Lawyer and Jeremy Haas to spearhead the bouldering within the Adirondack Park and I have been working on a complete bouldering guide covering all developed areas in the park boundaries. Thus far, there are 20+ areas, over a thousand problems, and more area being developed. I am hoping to go to the printers by this fall. The finished piece is going to be a 200+ page full color bouldering guidebook with detailed maps, photographs, and pictures with problems drawn in for a majority of the adirondack boulders. |

You are awesome and thanks for all the work going into the book, can't wait to check it out! |

Regarding bouldering: We've removed all bouldering from the second edition. Roped climbing is enough to fill two books, and we have every confidence that Justin's book will be outstanding. |
