Mt. Charleston Trails - Still open?

My girlfriend and I are looking to go camping and climbing at Mt. Charleston Tues/Weds. I checked out the website and it seems like a lot is closed from the recent fires - gomtcharleston.com/conditio…

Has anyone been here recently? Are the roads even open to get near? I'm unfamiliar with the area but I'm going to try to pick up a guide at REI if possible.

All the roads are open and access to most climbing areas is fine. The closed trails are on the south side: south loop trail, griffith peak, cathedral peak.

Enjoy.

Thanks Doug, can anyone recommend a good guide book for here? Islands in the Sky is sold out everywhere locally around me

I think Islands in the Sky is still the goto. Check out Desert Rock Sports when you get to vegas. Good place to get beta too. desertrocksportslv.com/

Thanks Doug, will do

Can anyone recommend any areas on Mt Charleston that have easier climbs (5.10 or less)and are decently shaded? A few I've been looking at are Starter Crag, Yellow Pine, Walla Walla Wash, and Sesame Street

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
