Climbing-related gift for a lady?

My Mrs' birthday is coming up and I'd like to give her, among other stuff, something climbing-related. She just bought new shoes and a new harness recently, so I am at a loss about what I should give her. Ladies, any ideas? The date is coming up fast and I starting to panic a little bit.

I am a guy but I believe almost every climber will appreciate a well-designed and made belay jacket, even if it is of lighter, Spring/Fall weight.

Helmet, to show you care about her safety?

Pack, so she can carry everything up there for you two? Or just a small climbing pack.

Frame a photo of yourself climbing. Make sure you caption the photo with the grade and date you redpointed it.

Books about women kicking ass are always good gifts. "Women Who Dare" is a good, inslirational read/coffee table book, and "The Rock Warriors Way"by Arno Ilgner is a fantastic read that will contribute to her lead head and show your support. Good additions to a pair of cam lobe earnings or a Freshette

Frame a really cool picture of **her** climbing.

Belay glasses, so her neck doesn't hurt so much while belaying you anymore!

Checkout this website of climbing themed jewelry. I got my girlfriend a pair of stopper/climbing nut earrings that she really liked.

Do not get anything climbing related. Only exception... She's a passionate climber and you are not. You'll thank me later.

both books written by Steph Davis are amazing reads, she's a phenomenal climber and went through some crazy hardships during the novels.

I'd also second a nice puffy jacket or shell jacket. Something she'll always use and will last a long time.

Why not?

She's more passionate about it the I am. She's only been bouldering for a couple months, but doing pretty well - working on V4-V5s. I guess her background in dance helps a lot.

Buy a set of stoppers and put them in a vase, like a bouquet!

As a climbing lady with a climbing husband...I would LOVE that 'biner necklace from climbingjewelry.com. Also, the best gift I ever got my husband was a custom organic pad. Get her one of those in a neat design in her fav colors. They are great and awesome to have a unique pad!

If she is into jewelry, check out Kate Rutherford's designs at:

If she is into climbing, a puffy or belay jacket would be awesome.

Not so good if she's just bouldering. Chalk pot/bag maybe? better if you make it. Someone else mentioned a mondo, I'd probably opt for another option but a pad isn't a bad idea, Organic or Asana both make large pads that have superior foam to the mondo.

A night at the Mohonk House with a guided climb at Skytop. I agree with Greg D though - giving a climbing related gift is like gifting a vacuum cleaner (you are essentially getting a gift for yourself). Exceptions are if you practice completely different disciplines. Say, you won't ever use that nice crash pad of hers. And no climbing themed jewelry!

I think the belay jacket sounds like a good idea. Something with a luxury twist she could use elsewhere. Say a merino hoody from Icebreaker. Also, they're kinda tacky and Uggly outside of South Cal, but a pair of sheepskin boots (like Uggs or Emu) would be nice to slip into in between the burns at the crag or an air-conditioned gym.

If you absolutely must, that no-spill Arc'Teryx Aperture chalk bag looks sweet. An extravagant price for a chalk bag, especially if you have one, but nice to have - an essence of a good gift. Any climber can never have more shoes. Pink Solutions!

I would like one of those helmets that have the little cut out for a ponytail, this is only is she has long hair, of course.

I disagree that a climbing related gift is a bad idea. Nothing would make me happier because I would get a lot of use and enjoyment out of it.

Nice climbing pants are always something I'm on the lookout for. High enough rise, non-contraining without being too baggy, and able to look like a non-homeless person during after-climb beers is a hard balance to strike. If you somehow find these holy grail of pants, let me know. I want a pair too.

Set of draws?
Trad gear?
New rope?
More trad gear?
More carabiners? Everyone needs more carabiners.
Still more trad gear. Nobody can ever have too many cams.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
