So trying to find some single pitch climbing close to Ashville this coming weekend (May 24-26). I know Rumbling bald is kind of out of season but it looks like highs are around 78-82 degrees. Too hot for rumbling bald? Is the bouldering any more shady? Any other recommendations on places to climb?

Limiting myself to single pitch because we have a puppy coming with us this time. Been to Linville and would love to go back but the puppy kinda limits things there...

Rumbling Bald looks great and sounds perfect for us just unsure if we are going to fry or not?? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

I've got a free weekend there with some friends in July, I've never been, but I've heard I'm going to end up playing on the lake rather than climbing. Which is still fun, but not as much.

Good luck. If it's absolutely miserable in May @ 80 degrees, and if you think of it, please send me a heads up. Maybe you can save me from packing some gear.

It will be hot! If you climb at Cereal Buttress you'll stay in the shade while on the deck but as soon as you leave the deck you'll be real warm. There is also a little cave/canyon at Cereal Buttress that puts out some cool air. Bring bug spray, if not you'll get destroyed.

In short, yes you can climb, it will be hot, and there will be a lot of bugs out.
