My name is Justin and I am the new Park Interpreter at City of Rocks. I would like to use some photography of rock climbers in some of my oral presentations and I am looking for great photos. If anybody has pictures that are particularly good send them to me at justinscott_67@hotmail.com. If you can, include the climber's name, feature, year, and photo credit. I would also really like some historical pictures. If anybody knows any of the early City of Rocks climbing pioneers, contact them and ask them to scan and send their pictures. On that note, if anybody knows any of the City of Rock climbing pioneers, could you contact them and ask them if they are interested in e-mailing/calling me for an oral historical account. I love to hear the stories behind the routes.
I don't know anything about the City of Rocks, but wouldn't a climbing guidebook have a lot of the history? Most guidebooks do. It's possible you prefer the face-to-face, but for raw history, check out the guidebooks.
The guidebook does have history, I was just looking for something more. I really just want older pictures, but I added in the request for more detailed personal accounts of early climbing at the City.
Hi Justin, I've never seen ANY old photos of climbing at the City. Maybe Greg Lowe or Kim Miller?? Now that I think about it, I head the lowe's even made some film in the 70's. It would be cool to find that!
