Recommendations for lightweight pants for tall climbers?

I'm trying to find lightweight, durable, long climbing pants that breathe well and are comfortable in Colorado summers? Ideally under $70.
I'm 6'3" and wear a 36x36 pant but can't seem to find anything that will fit.
Any recommendations?

Good luck finding anything from Prana and Patagonia with a 36" inseam.
I'm a 34x36 and the best pants I've found is REI's Endeaver pants. They're lightweight and stretch. But I've noticed the waterproofing doesn't last very long.

im a 32x36 and the pranas work pretty well. it would be nice if they were 1/2 to 1 inch longer but it keeps the cuff out of the way when climbing

Since the thread is now up; in a similar vein, does anyone have any suggestions for 28x33 pants?

I have occasionally found some TNF softshell pants in a 28-long but it seems most manufacturers think slim climbers don't exist any more. Any other suggestions would be great.

I don't see a single pair of Patagonia or Prana with 36" inseam. Plenty of 34" but they're too short for me.

Ian Bohannon, thanks for the tip on the Endeavors, While I'd love some Pranas and am always happy with Patagonia stuff, I reckon the REIs will fit, and that's my number one thing. $79.50 with $7.95 back in dividend, so right in my price range too.

I appreciate the help.

I was in TNF Store in Boston a few weeks ago and one of their employees actually admitted to me that they were starting to size their clothing for larger "more American" sized people.

Check out Outdoor Research. I've got a friend that's a few inches taller than me an has been looking for some longer legged pants and found that OR had some that fit him well.

Howdy,

I've had luck with Eddie Bauer's first ascent guide pants-- they are 80 bucks full price but you can get various deals if you search around. They don't suffer from the super-bagginess of some outdoorsy pants, while not being tight by any means. They are light and dry quickly and look sharp. However, they only come in 34 inseam.

I'm also a 36 length--so I bought the 34, had them taken to a tailor, and he was easily able to add a bit of fabric on the inside to lengthen them. That's probably going to be your best bet regardless of what brand you find, since it isn't worth it for these companies to make off-the-rack clothes for freaks like us. Plus, tailoring is really only 10-15 bucks and takes a day.

Good luck!

Simon, I'm 6'5" and a 34x36 (or closer to 37") in pants. Kuhl has us covered. Pricey but totally worth it. I pretty much only wear Kuhl pants now for climbing, casual, and work.
For a lightweight pant, check out the Renegade (lighter, less durable) or the Revolvr (a tad heavier but more durable.)

Years ago the Prana stretch zions ran long and I scored a few pairs of them that I still wear (and they're pretty beat up now) but the updated version doesn't run as long, sadly.

I've had good luck with MontBell, which is surprising since a lot of their stuff runs really small. It's been a few seasons since I bought a pair, so I can't point you to a specific model.

Patagonia everything fits tall folks better than most others. I am 6'4" and Patagonia is usually the answer. The Marmot Scree pant fit me well and I measure at 36x36.

I have a pair of Rab pants that fit decently in the length department. They aren't as long as I normally wear, but they don't make me look like I'm ready for high water either. I typically wear a 38x36. Worth looking into/trying on. IIRC, the pants aren't sized like jeans- I think mine are sized as XL.

Stone Crush Gear out of Winslow, AZ makes some great clothing and will do custom orders if necessary.

Hmmm I'm 6'3" and I have the Prana stretch Zion pants with a 34" inseam. For "casual" pants like jeans and stuff I'd normally wear a 36" but I find 34" is nice for climbing pants. They're a bit short for wearing around town (but hardly manpris), but when climbing that's a plus because I don't have to roll them up at all.

Of course you could be half tree and like 70% of your height is in legs so YMMV.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
