Zion Camping- Is BLM area on Virgin river still open? Suggestions otherwise?

Hey all,

I'm heading to Zion in a few weeks for a 5 day weekend. I always stay at that little BLM campground a few miles south of Springdale, right on the Virgin River. One of my buddies told me he thinks it is closed now. Anyone have any beta on this, or other area for a group to camp in the area as I have never camped anywhere else?

Mosquito cove is closed. Rumor is that most of the BLM zones are catching heat. I'll let others confirm this

This is true. People have been camping off the Smithsonian butte(sp) road, but it's posted as no camping. South campground was full when I drove by today. The park has been crazy busy with tourists.

Any info on the spot a couple miles north of Virgin up Kolob terrace rd?
