Since the upper flake er...flaked off last spring almost a year ago now, has anyone gone over and take a look to see if "Jolt 2" can be established? ;) How's the rock quality around where the rockfall happened?

I will ask Ed if he is interested in restoration? The last time i talked to him shortly after it happened I think he was pretty relieved that no one got hurt and not too interested in opening that up again and haveing it fall and hurt someone....

Not sure I would be interested in getting on Jolt or Dolt these days, everytime something falls down up there the fin gets thinner and thinner (read: sketchier and sketchier)....

RIP Jolt. You were one of the best 10s at Rumney (or maybe the single best?) and will be missed.

I think your memory is foggy ;) Peer pressure, Armed and dangerous, Underdog, Masterpiece, Lonesome (for most), waimea. few others i like personally better that aren't as classic.. I think the flake is scary now and folks shouldn't be encouraged to go up there.

It was a cool feature but I do not remember the climbing as anything special?

The position, exposure, and the "improbability" of the holds on the fin made Jolt memorable. In terms of movement alone, I liked Dolt better. I think there is still significant instability and chance of rockfall from the top.

The first ~3/4 of the route wasn't anything that special, but that last section grappling up the fin/arête was great. Agreed it was probably more the position and exposure than just the movement, but those were fun moves up there. But yeah, maybe THE best 10 is a bit of nostalgia-induced generosity. But I do think it was top tier, up there with Waimea, Lonesome Dove, Underdog, Millenium Falcon, etc.

yea.. i prefer steeper over more exposed.. even short stuff like Espresso, No Money Down, Squall are more fun for me. either way.. Jolt is probably way to sketchy to try to fix, there are plenty of other route that are solid.

I love exposure and possition. For me it is often about climbing the feature over just the moves though I do appreciate the moves. Jolt was a heap though. i only did it once.
