Description Suggest change

The Tramway - so named due to most climbers using the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway to reach this bouldering area. The granite boulders here are scattered not too far from the Tramway station near the peak of Mt San Jacinto. The climbing style can be best described as steep and featured.

Primarily a summer destination to escape the Southern California heat, the primary downside to this area is the cost.

The 2023 price of an adult ticket is $30.95 for the day and children aged 3 to 10 are $18.95 a day; parking is an additional $15 per vehicle.

  • Please remember to fill out a backcountry permit at the ranger station.
  • Free permits are available on the outside of the ranger station located at the bottom of the paved trail.

Getting There Suggest change

  • Traveling from San Diego take Interstate 15 North to Interstate 215 North to Highway 60 East to Interstate 10 East. Exit Highway 111 to Palm Springs. Turn right on Tramway Road. The Valley Station is located approximately 4 miles up Tramway Road.
