Has anyone been to Devil's Den and/or Mt. Molly yet this year? Is ice gone and is it dry? Any condition updates would be greatly appreciated.

Haven't been to either one this year. I can't imagine the gates to the Den will be open yet though. Last year the main way in wasn't opened until mid- to late-June. 2 weeks ago the 'back' way in that I've found had the gate closed as well. As shaded as it is, the Den will likely still be fairly wet, but there are probably a few dry lines. I've not been to Mt Molly at all, so no speculation there. I do know Longstack has a lot of dry rock, and is likely drying more each day.

This will be my first time. Where are the gates? Up by Hayes Road? If so, that's like one and a half miles to walk right? Is it doable? Is the back way to take the more Southerly road that's actually called Devil's den?

The main gate is off of Hayes, yes. 1.5 miles sounds about right. It should be do-able at this point since the snow has melted; most of it is drive-able for trucks pulling trailers. It get rougher in spots, but my wife's Ford Focus wagon has made it in there a couple of times with no issues.

There's a couple of "back" ways in. I'm not even going to begin to try to describe them because I'll likely end up confusing myself and you as well. I'm sure there are more ways, but I've found my way in off of Rines Rd as well as further south from Hayes. The way in off of Rines is the one I mentioned that the gate was closed 2 weeks ago.

I was at the Den on 4/12.
The slab wall was very wet, but most everything else was bone dry.
We hiked in from the closed gate on Hayes. The road was 50% ice and 50% deep wet mud.

I went out to visit Devil's Den today. The gate was closed. The gate where Rines Rd turns into Caverly Rd is also closed. After failing to find the climbers trail up Rines we walked down the (also gated) road to Longstack. Man that place looks nice.

You can easily walk the 1.5 miles or so down the gated dirt road without a problem. If you want to be like the N.Conway folk, bring a bike!

The rines hill area was heavily logged this winter. The trail was destroyed. I'm going to try and clear it back out soon. A bike is nice for the den and mt. Molly this time of year. The gates will open after mud season!

Thanks Jon. Great job and kudos to you and the crew for putting so much love into this area - it looks great and I can't wait to visit it more!
