Our sad (sort of) story is that we live in New England, planned our 1 week spring climbing trip for Seneca Rocks or Gunks and the entire east coast is to be socked in with rain all next week! We spontaneously bought last minute tickets to Vegas seeing the usual sun shining in Red Rock. Spending a lot just to get there to climb for 4 1/2 days, lest we spend it on psych sessions battling the east coast weather patterns. I've been climbing at RR a few times before - i seem to recall there is no need to show a pass for Calico Basin, Black Velvet and Windy Peak - am I correct? That way we could avoid the fees of the loop altogether and have plenty to climb in these locations for our four short days. We will buy an annual pass if we have to but great to save 30 bucks , too!

That is correct - those areas are outside of the loop road and no pass is needed for those areas.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
