The greatest tool we possess is the ability to tell a powerful story.
Adventures in Storytelling is offering an intensive three-day workshop that will teach students how to capture stories as they unfold in the exciting world of adventure sports. Sponsored by Colorado Wilderness Rides and Guides, students will get an opportunity to shoot a live-action event under the guidance of working professional storytellers.
The workshop will be led by Boulder photographer John Dickey, whose experience covers couture fashions to peak ascents around the globe. His experience spans a decade, and his clients include Patagonia, The North Face and Matte Black. Other guest instructors include Boulder photographer Ethan Welty, who has worked documenting the decline of glaciers; and visual journalist Caroline Bennett, whose award-winning work on social justice has seen her pair with the United Nations, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and others.
Day 1: Learn the art of storytelling through a variety of mediums, with still photography being the main focus, under the careful instruction of industry professionals.
Day 2: Shoot the Hard As Nails Obstacle Mud Race, with workshop instructors.
Day 3: Present your work and receive professional feedback and critiques on portfolios and workshop created media. Students will also have publishing opportunities with Hard As Nails.
Registration is $600 per student with a limit of 15 students.
Scholarships available based on merit and need.
Workshop dates: May 9th, 10th, 14th, 2014.
