Just got a job in Oahu and will be moving in the middle of the summer. Anyone have any advice on neighborhoods to avoid, or gravitate towards? Also curious about the climbing scene out there, whats it like, wheres the best place to meet some climbing partners?
Thanks in advance

I sent you a PM with some info. As far as neighborhoods to avoid, the "ghetto," as some would call it, is on the west side. Most people live in Honolulu and suffer an average highway speed of about 2 MPH (Hawaii is among the worst states in the nation for traffic).

First figure out where you are working, then figure out where you are living. Living just 20 miles away from work could mean three hours of sitting in traffic per day easy, so it's best not to venture too far. As far as cost goes, it's insanely expensive everywhere. Dont expect to spend less than $1500 a month if you want your own place, and at that $1500 wont get you very much. Take whatever wadge they offered you, subtract about 15%, and then compare it to what you are making at your current job (assuming you dont live in a rural area, otherwise subtract 30%) to account for the increase in cost of living you will experience.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
