My name is Scott I live in Canada and plan to be in the valley Oct this year. The nose would be my first big wall although I have extensive experience multi pitch rock and ice. I have been to Yosemite twice before and have completed many routes in a day there as well. I have most all gear required including old school 2 man A5 porta ledge and large haul bag. Also looking to do regulate route on half dome if this interests you as well. Drop me a line and will see if we're like minded : )
Both routes have great ledges for sleeping and hauling sucks low on both routes. It can snow in Oct. though so weather is something to consider. Still I doubt most bring a ledge in October, especially earlier in the month. Having said that when I climbed the Nose there was a husband/wife team below us with a ledge (the husband was pretty experienced though and no doubt had his systems dialed in). Also the hike up to HD is hard so the lighter the better - find a small haul bag or have the second climb with a pack. I know I would pack out the large haul regardless of my best intentions. Be prepared for lots of traffic on both routes. Have fun and climb safe. Both routes are stellar. If you can lead solid Yosemite 5.10+ you will be happy and move faster.
Hi Scott just wondering where in canada are you from, as im currently living in canmore ablerta an was planning a trip to climb some big walls in the bugaboos in thr august an maybe yosemite in the fall.
