Partner for West Virginia (Seneca, New River Gorge) & Pennsylvania

Due to partners relocating for or being busy with work, I'm looking for a new partner or two for the 2014 season.

I'm very safe and experienced, having climbed extensively and accident-free across the country on everything from single-pitch sport to long wilderness trad routes. The main thing I look for in a partner is a great attitude: looking to have fun is more important than climbing 5.whatever. Of course it's fun to climb "hard" (which is relative), too, but in my experience the reward is independent of the difficulty. I equally enjoy climbing with experienced partners and helping newer climbers get started.

I can supply ropes and rack or draws. I'm coming from the Pittsburgh area -- meeting at the gym first has worked well for people around here -- and am also open to meeting at some climbing destination.

Are you ever available Several weekdays in a row? If so, I'd be interested in Seneca and the New.

Sometimes, given enough advance notice. I especially like escaping the weekend crowds at Seneca.

I live in Central PA in Mechanicsburg. If you ever venture out this way let me know.

A couple of my friends and I try to get out for a day trip (breakneck, mills, etc) once a week weather permitting and are planning a Sunday-Thursday trip to the New in May. We've all been climbing for about a year so are fairly new to the sport but have our own gear and climb in the 5.9-5.10 range. I'm sure it'd be nice to have someone with a little more experience around every now and again.

I'm currently in Raleigh/Cary NC (formerly DC), and up for Seneca or anywhere really at the drop of a hat.

Michael, Sounds good... I'll let you know the next chance I have to go. (I was just there this weekend, having returned last night.) -- Nick

Antonio,

I usually avoid groups -- climbing is simply better with 2 or at most 3 -- but maybe, depending on what else is going on. Shoot me a PM when you know the dates you're going.

Thomas,

Once I a while (rarely) I go to Harrisburg... where around central PA do you climb?

Nick, mostly Safe Harbor. I've climbed at Harpers Ferry on Maryland Heights. Both are the same distance from me. Chickies Rock isn't too far, and Birdsboro is a similar distance. I've yet to climb at Chickies though.

Thomas, Thanks... I'll let you know when I'm next headed to central PA. Safe Harbor looks like it's worth checking out if I'll already be in the area.

Hi, I'm from the UK and locking for a partner for Seneca for 24th-26th April, if you fancy meeting up. (Been climbing for thirty years.)

David, Sorry, I need to be elsewhere this Thursday and Friday. I wish you luck, though... the weather looks like it will be great.

I need a partner for the New from Sunday 8/10 to Wednesday 8/13. I can also drive/pick up anyone that's on the way from Pittsburgh!

I'm available anytime for Seneca, Franklin, New, and Red River. Anyone still looking for partners?

I'm looking to head down to Seneca sometime between the end of September (last week) and the week leading up to Columbus day. I'm an experienced but moderate trad leader (currently leading Gunks, Daks, and NH 6s, climbed at Seneca 2x, seem to remember mostly leading 4s but it was a long time ago). None of my regular partners can take a week (mostly all teachers) around then.

If anyone has any ambition to climb around those weeks, shoot me a message, I'd be happy to exchange info and see if we can make it happen.

I'd definitely prefer to swing leads or lead. I'm fairly laid back as long as you can belay, clean a route, and protect traverses (my pet peeves).

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
