I am looking at going to school in fort collins, was wondering what the climbing season is like there and what good areas are nearby for both routes and bouldering?

Thanks,
Aaron

some shitty boulders at horsetooth reservoir, look up rotary park. Chossy sport climbing up the poudre canyon at an area called the palace. And I guess lumpy ridge is worth mentioning for lack of other stuff.

I moved out here 3 yrs ago for CSU. The climbing is great around here about 1hr to lumpy ridge and RMNP. All the climbing around boulder is about an hour as well and you can't forget vedawoo for your offwidths. The poudre canyon has great sport and some good trad lines on grey rock more locally. Horsetooth has sweet bouldering right in Fort Collins that is pretty climable much of the winter. CSU has lots of people that climb as well.

Ross is dead bang on. Only place I can think of better for climbing is certain parts in California;lived in Tahoe for 10 years and the climbing is awesome. You can almost climb year around and there are plenty of places in the area, to many to mention. Plus you are in striking distance of Moab as well. Besides the climbing; Fort Collins is a great town with lots to do. We ranked like, 2nd for towns that the residence are most happy in. A great choice.

FoCo is an awesome town. Year-round climbing if you follow the sun in the winter and the shade in the summer. Great bouldering within 30 minutes, sport climbing up in Poudre Canyon. You will be about an hour away from Estes Park (Includes Rocky Mountain National Park, Lumpy Ridge, the Diamond, etc) Vedauwoo, and Boulder.

FInd a house north of Prospect Ave to be in the good part of town.

Bring your back country skis, bike, kayak and fishing pole.
