Boot / Crampon match

I'm climbing in Scarpa Mont Blanc's with BD Cyborgs. The cyborgs are great but don't fit the boot worth a damn.

Wondering what folk's experience is in these boots with other crampons, and maybe looking to make a trade of some sort as well.

This might help a bit: coldthistle.blogspot.com/20…

It could be something with Cyborgs in general, but that's what the woman mentions in the quote after the frontpoint picture.

Are they the Chomoly Cyborgs in your picture? BD has a new wire bail that should fit better. Otherwise you can try G14's or Lynx.

Yes Ray they are. The toe ball is basically to wide for the boot.

Good article. Thanks.

BD sells a narrow toe bale

BD toe bails, both regular and 'narrow,' suck on the new-style Scarpa toe welts.

Get yourself a pair of Petzl, Grivel or Camp/Cassin front bails. I'm running Petzl bails on the Stinger and it's a great combo.

For an even better fit, and an overall better crampon, ditch the Cyborg and get a Petzl Lynx or Cassin Blade Runner.

Agree with Raf. BD front bails suck on most boots.
Petzl has an exceptional customer service, call them up and they will send you a pair for free although they don't carry it as a spare part for sale anyway.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
