Summer Climbs in Yosemite Area

It's been a life-long dream to climb in The Valley. The only chance I 'm going to get is in August. I recognize this is one of the hottest, most crowded times, but if possible I'd really like to do something on El Cap (nose or west (east?) face) or Half Dome snake dike and/or the nw face) (though I'd also be willing to go to cooler areas nearby like tulomne).

I'd like to do some long, adventurous routes, more free than aid, but some aid is fine. Routes that may take up to three days are fine. Are there any reccomendations for climbs like this in August?

Steck-Salathe? Chouinard-Herbert? RNWF of Half Dome? All 3 are at least somewhat north facing and well above the Valley floor, so are manageable in high summer. August is a great time to hit Tuolumne Meadows, and Mt. Dana & Mt. Conness offer plenty of options. How long will you be in Yosemite?

Glaciar Apron gets shade around 3. I'd go to the High Sierras.

+1. The Valley is miserably hot in August. It's also the peak month for tourists.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
