Misty Mountain Cadillac sizing

In my tireless search for a new harness I think I have decided on the Misty Mountain Cadillac SA. I like it because it is reportedly super comfortable and also because of the extra gear loops ( I currently climb in a WC harness with the extra loop in the back and I am addicted to the extra racking options). My only question for you in internet land is about sizing. I have a size 32" waist and cant decide between the medium (29" to 32") or the large (32" to 35"). Any one have any experience with this harness?

Call them and they can answer your question and any mods you might want. Also consider if you'll be adding layers or sending in prime temps etc ...

Get the large. I did with the reasoning that sometimes I want to squeeze a hoody or some layer underneath. I've got a 32" waist and the large isn't too big. I also customized a bit and got Med leg loops. Great company, great harness.

Last year I bought a Cadillac here on MP, size Large. Had no chance to try one on prior to purchasing.
According to the MM website, and as you note here, for a 33" waist, I was under the impression that a Large was appropriate. However, in person, I found the Large to be too big for me. It could be made to fit, but I had to pull so much of the tag end of the adjustment webbing through the buckles that it just didn't feel that I had the size dialed in. (Yet, a M sounds too small....MM should build in more overlap in their sizing).
I ended up getting a SafeTech instead.
(So, in other news, I have a Large Cadillac, autobuckle, for sale.....).

You are right on the cusp, but I would go with the large. I think that Misty sizing always runs a little on the small side.

As a side note, IMHO the Cadillac is one of the best (if not THE BEST) harness out there. I think that you will be very happy with your purchase.

I've got a large cadillac and am a 32 - 32.5 waist. I originally ordered a medium and it was too small to be comfortable.

Thanks for advice on calling MM, I just did and it sounds like a large is the size for me. So Chris... how much you want for that thing?

So did I. I think their measurements are wrong.

I recently got one and it seemed to be right on for sizing if you follow their measurements guide. I know people who have had mix and match leg/waist harnesses put together.

BTW. The new version of the caddy is rad.

Misty Mountain sizes on the actual measure of your waist, and not what your jeans say. Just because you wear a size 32 pair of pants, does not make you have a 32 inch waist. I have 31 inch waist, wear a pair of 28 Prana jeans, and use a Large Misty harness. Fantastic harnesses. Just measure your waist with a tape and with your pants on.....

I just recently sized down from my ArcTeryx harness.

I tried on the MM harness and was a medium. I have a 32 waist. Leg loops might be a deal breaker though. Forget if the harness is fixed or adjustable. They will let you custom order. Cool company

I went with another harness because my friend had a spare new one he wasnt going to use. Next harness will be MM

When sizing Misty Mountain Harnesses its crucial to use a tape measure and measure your waist right above the hipbones roughly at the navel. Measure your thigh at the largest point right beneath the crotch.

If you go from your pant size its likely that the sizing will be off and your Misty harness will not be the proper fit and then you will be sad. Misty does offer custom sizing though but the tape measure method still applies.

I'm a 32/33" waist. I got a medium harness and it was too small I think, I exchanged it for a large. I can almost tighten it all the way but not quite. But it fits nice in the cold months with a lot of clothes.
Plus tighter in the front brings the gear loops closer to the front, which I prefer to having them more towards the rear with the medium harness.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
