Renting a crash pad near Rocktown,GA
|
I'm flying into Atl from NYC and will be climbing at Rocktown for the weekend. I am a new climber and have never climbed outdoors. Instead of buying a crashpad and flying down there with it, is there anywhere around Atl or near Rocktown where I can rent a pad? Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks. |

Might check with REI. If not and your willing to drive to me you can borrow mine. I live in Lawrencevile 30044. See how far that is from Atlanta and if its not to far come get it. |

However, I'm going to be in Douglasville and Lawrenceville is about an hour away in the opposite direction of where I'm going to be climbing, so that makes for too long of a driving day for me. I will check with REI and some of the rock gyms in ATL. Thanks Anyone else? |

Did you find a place to rent? I'm in a similar situation come 10/4. |

Unique outfitters inside stone summit might rent pads. |

Thanks for the reply. Just talked to Unique Outfitters and they unfortunately do not, nor does REI or anywhere they know of. |

Well I live near stone summit in tucker, Ga. I have a pad you can borrow. |

I'm in the same boat next weekend. I've called everywhere and no one rents. Would anyone be willing to rent out a crashpad on October 5th? |

When I headed down to Atl back in April I called all around town and found out that no one rents pads (as far as I can remember.) However, after talking to one of the bigger gyms in the Atl area I talked to one of the climbers that worked at the gym and he was nice enough to lend me a pad for the weekend. I don't remember the guys name or the gym but it worked out for me. Obviously this is not a reliable method for finding a pad and I don't know if this helps or not but my advice is check craigslist or the gyms. Climbers love climbing and other climbers so I think you'll have some luck. |

GA tech outdoors club rents them. It's $40 for a weekend for non-students which is kind of steep. Just google the club and you should find info. I've never done it before |

If you are a new climber just buy a styrofoam cooler, some ice, and a case of beers. There will be tons of people there. Ask to join a group with pads offering beer in exchange. The spotters will be even more valuable than the pad. You might find climbing outside not as intuitive and more intimidating than you imagined. |

Wall crawlers gym in little 5 used to rent pads, maybe check with them? Also make sure to get a pass and look at hunting closure dates for pigeon mountain. |

Does anyone living in Atlanta have a crash pad that they'd be willing to rent for the weekend of December 2-4? It would be much appreciated!! |
