Trying to cram as much climbing, kayaking, and a little mountain biking into a 3 week trip in May. We'll probably drive straight through to the Tahquitz area, working our way north to the needles, yosemite, and eventually the Bend, OR. area to do some climbing at Smith and kayaking/mountain biking in the area. Any tips for free car camping areas that are out of the way, or must hit places would be appreciated. Also want to spend at least a few nights in a hotel on or near the beach.

Looking to paddle the west fork of the hood, the east fork of the lewis, the white salmon, and ride the sandy ridge trail system.

its kind of intuitive finding free campsites...just look for places that are out of the way and that nobody has resources invested in that they will be pissed about you chillin by. The usual National forest/BLM land is a good place to start.

nothing other than that to offer, other than to say your trip sounds rad as fuck and should be a blast.

You might want to look into the area just East of Sacramento. Great multipitch trad at Lover's Leap with camping at the base for a fee or free camping a short drive away, paddle the N or S fork of the American river, and good mountain biking nearby (classic rides if the snow is melted by then).

But your trip sounds great! Even if you don't have enough time to squeeze in any others that you've listed it will still be an awesome time.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
