I'm moving to the Vail Valley next week and am looking for some folks to climb with indoors (I'm assuming the only indoor place nearby is Vail Athletic Club?) and/or outside once the snow melts. I've been climbing for 16 years (mostly sport/bouldering but also some trad and aid), am safe and excited to be able to climb more consistently this upcoming spring/summer.
My work schedule is fairly flexible over the next few months, so I'm up for weekday or weekend climbs and am willing to drive beyond the Vail Valley to check out some other areas on the western slope.
Www.summitclimbing.org is a co-op climbing gym in Silverthorne. I've used it when the previous two owners ran the place, but I have no idea what it's like now. There's also a tiny climbing wall at the Breckenridge Rec Center, which is not worth leaving Vail for, IMO.
Friday Nights at the V.A.C. climbing is only $10 and usually has a pretty solid turn out of mainly people bouldering. Mondays are good too , but not cheap. However, the best thing to do this spring is roll out to the Klettergarten on Wednesday nights. There is almost always a crowd and it's a great time to plan the weekend trips. Info on the Klettergarten can be found on MP.
