Seriously - if she's such a beginner, she should definitely stay off Cat In The Hat - you know, that totally beginner-friendly 5.6 with massive belay ledges, good protection, and easy climbing.
What the hell do you circle-jerking asshats suggest that she do? I can't think of any better first multipitch for a beginner than CITH.
Jen - sorry you had to put up with the douchebaggery.
Everyone else - make sure to spray to your partners about how you totally owned some beginner climber chick on the internet. You'l climb at least two letter grades harder.
It's not about how hard you climb. Personally, I never lost gear as a noob. I did some shit I should not have done most likely, but I never lost gear. And nowhere did anyone say it's not ok to lose gear. If you leave a piece, you leave a piece. What isn't ok is coming in with the attitude of entitlement because you decided to skip the learning ethos, or even worse- you were unaware that there even is one.
You can call me a dick or whatever you want, that's fine. Ask yourself though, if this was a dude if you'd be reacting the same way. Smart money says that if it was, most of you would be pouncing- remember the flatiron rescue video incident? Suppose one of them said to you "what do you mean? My cam is up there and I want it back"- you would blow a fucking O ring.
So pat yourselves on the back for chivalry or whatever you want to call it. I'll stay on the side of everyone should have their shit wired tight before they hit the hills, whether you're a split tail, or a hangdown.

Hope you get your cam back, Jen. I've lost quite a bit of gear over the years including a #4 that still to this day probably sits within the obscure crack it was wedged in. Years before I bootied a similar #4 at another crag. So it all evens out.
Jeez you guys are ruthless. Say what you will about the tenants of National Socialism, at least its an ethos; maybe you all should get one too. Dance on.
