Glacier travel with 8 or 8.5mm ropes, crevasse rescue is a pain. Snow/ice, combined with the small difference between diameter of rope and prusik is problematic. |

Daisy chain. |

Ian I picked up these in a climbing gym in Denver early 1994. The only markings are Mammut and Perrin the rating in Kilograms and a size number. The guys at the shop nicknamed them roach clips that is all know about them. |

Paul, are you sure you were at a climbing shop when you got those? They look like they might have a different application. |

Mike that may be a better use for them. They really aren't much good in quartzite. |

Who the hell takes eggs with them backpacking?!I have one of those just used it the other day for hard boiled eggs but I tossed them in the cooler for car camping. Also great on river trips. But yeah not really for backpacking. |

Roller skis; definitely the dumbest purchase I've ever made. Also, any high-end outdoor clothing - I trash it the same way as cheap stuff, so it's a waste. |
